Music Therapy

Music Therapy
The main idea of “About Music Therapy” on http://www.temple.edu/musictherapy/home/program/faq.htm  is to inform the general public about music therapy and persuade them to use music therapy if they become sick of maybe choice music therapy as a career. From just looking at the URL I know that this is a reliable web sight because of “.edu” instead of “.com”. This means that the web sight can only be manipulated by a special group of educators. I also know that this is reliable because at the end of the article there is a list of sources that the article got its information from.
The authors view point of “About Music Theory” is that music therapy is an amazing cure-all that anyone can use. I know this because the article gives statistics on people who have used music therapy and became better. This proves that the author has a small bias on the subject. The author is trying to persuade the reader to use music therapy if they are sick, they do this through facts, opinions and statistics. For example, the article states, “Playing instruments can help physically disabled clients to develop gross and fine motor skills”.
Music Therapy
While researching music therapy, I came across this article, https://normt.uib.no/index.php/voices/article/viewArticle/544/405 . The main idea of the article is to persuade the believers of music therapy that maybe music therapy doesn’t work like some people think it does. The author view point on the subject is that the reason music therapy works is because we imagine that it works. The author has a lot of bias beliefs that are not backed up by evidence like facts or statistics. For example, a sentence states that, “one way to approach this theme is to acknowledge the possibility that the way we imagine music therapy working is part of how it works”. This is a pretty radical opinionated thought, considering that the author has no evidence to support this.
I must add that the article may not be the most reliable source. There is no background knowledge about the author so the reader does not know if the author was a scholar who has been studying the subject for years or an average Joe of society.

My Thoughts on Music Therapy
I have Read, annotated, and analyzed two different papers that both focused on music therapy. One article talked about the importance of music therapy and how it can used to heal patients. On the other hand, article number two explains that music therapy is a fraud and the healing is all in the patient’s imagination. After studying both articles in-depth I have come to the conclusion that music therapy is real, and can be used to heal sick patients.
My strongest reason for this belief is the reliability of the article. Article number one was on an “.edu” web sight. This means that the sight can only be manipulated by educators. Article number two is a “.com” web sight. In this case, anyone in the world can put information on this sight. Also, Article number one gives background knowledge on the author (career, opinion, resources), while article number two just gives the name of the author. Another reason that I believe music therapy really works is the quality of work of the articles. Article number one is much more organized and well written, with facts opinions, and statistics, than article number two which had mostly radical opinions and a couple facts that might not even be real.
In Conclusion, I Believe that music therapy is real because of a very convincing and reliable article.
